Merry Christmas!

We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!

We are so lucky to know about the importance of Christ in our lives and have a personal relationship with him. I am so grateful for his humble birth, his life and example and the sacrifice he offered for each one of us. May we all be filled with that special spirit that teaches us of Christ.

Ok! Sorry I am finally getting around to this but after many requests I thought we could just post the recipe for whoever would like it.

WARNING--this recipe is very addicting and oh so healthy!

Artichoke Dip
1 cup mayonnaise (not miracle whip-not the same)
1 can artichoke hearts (not marinated)-chopped
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon Tabasco
1 tsp dried onions
1/2 cup mozzarella
1/2 Parmesan

Heat in the microwave until melted throughly, stir occasionally.
Serve with bread or crackers

the 12 days of christmas

The New Era this month has some really great articles. One is about all the events leading up to Christ's birth. It is a great 12 Days of Christmas to read as a family or individually! It also challenges you to serve others on the different days. I really like this idea to help us all get into the Christmas spirit and learn of Christ.
(the link to the prophecies of christ is on the title)
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Curling...

We had a great time at Curling! There were 52 youth on the ice. After a short video and some hands on instruction they were playing games. It was so fun!

We tried to stay warm on the ice but we could warm up with pizza and hot chocolate! So we did just fine!

Check out some of your own skills!

a return to virtue!

"We must 'help prepare every young woman to be worthy to make and keep sacred covenants and receive the ordinances of the temple.' . . . I truly believe that one virtuous young woman or young man, led by the Spirit, can change the world, but in order to do so, we must return to virtue."

She Dalton gave a fabulous talk at General Conference. She encourages us to focus on the temple! Click on the title to read the full talk!

New lesson resources!!

YEAH! I love using the resource guides on the internet for the YM/YW manuals. Typically there is a list of lesson numbers with talks from general authorities linked to that subject. You can find this list at the bottom of the page under Resource Guides 2008 (lesson #). Follow the link below.
Now however, the resources will be sent out to the units to be used in 2009. Here is some more information about it.

A Brand New Year

The link below on the lds.org site has some great ideas and connections if you are planning a New Year's Activity.

A DVD will be mailed out to introduce the theme for 2009, celebration of the youth's accomplishments in 2008 and a message from the apostles. it sounds really cool and I hope we can all use it in some way.

Rochester NY Stake website

Do you have a log in yet?

If not here is how........

go to lds.org (http://lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=e419fb40e21cef00VgnVCM1000001f5e340aRCRD)

under "about the church" there is a subtitle "stake and ward web sites" click on it

that will lead you to a log in screen

if you do not have a log in yet click on " obtain an account"

you will need two things: 1. your record number 2. know your confirmation date (if you do not know either of these you can call your ward clerk or talk to him on sunday)

then you will simply add your personal information and it will connect you to our stake site.

Navigating our stake site is easy and divided by wards as well as our stake page. It is a great place to find the stake calendar for the entire year! ALL stake activities will be listed there starting in November for the following year. That way you can plan your calendars as well. Also the Epistle is always posted on the right corner. I hope this helps if you are unfamiliar with the stake and ward pages.
Please email if you are still unsure how to log in or get a log in. Good luck!

October Epistle

It has arrived!

We are trying to get them out and done by the middle of the month before the actual date. Hopefully this will help you with the distribution.

Thanks!!!
Check it out. October is a busy month....
