A Brand New Year

The youth did a great job on the Brand New Year Fireside.

We started with the intro to the New YW/YM theme (Joshua 1:9) from the DVD

Then taught everyone the new "Be Strong" song! Which everyone loved!! It is a great song....you can download the sheet music or the instrumental onto your ipod.

Next youth gave talks about the standards from the Strength of the Youth and did a fabulous job! I loved the testimonies they bore and personal experiences they told us about.

We closed the meeting with the end of the DVD from the General Presidencies of the YM/YW.

And enjoyed sundaes for refreshments.

Sledding

At Ellison Park!
This was so fun and we ended up with lots of snow, sunshine and great food. Thanks 3rd Ward for a fabulous Super Saturday!

New Beginnings Idea

This looks so cute! I love the idea.

It is all about a girl who gains 8 values (Personal Progress) and what she learns along the way.

I hope everyone is having fun with New Beginnings. Good luck with Personal Progress this year.

December Service

This really helped me get into the spirit of Christmas. It was a great service project at a local Nursing home. The kids prepared a few musical numbers: harmonica by Jodie and guitar by President Jensen and Jodie. Sarah played the piano for us and Blaine did a fabulous job conducting the entire group.

There were even chimes that we paired off with the residents and helped them sing some of the songs. It was a highlight of the year.

YW in Excellence

Our YW are excellent

This is long overdue. But thanks to our fabulous secretary we have a fun collage of pictures to share from the event.

The YW performed in a play written by Sister Sherman about returning to virtue complete with props, costumes and musical numbers throughout!

President Jensen spoke to us about virtue and everything was covered in GOLD.

It was a great celebration of the new value-VIRTUE

The YW made a huge chain of virtue connected to each other. It was a great night!

A Brand New Year 2010

A Brand New Year will be coming again in 2010....the title has the link with ALL the information. It is a fun DVD with dancing, talks and other music to introduce the 2010 mutual theme.

recipes

Thank you all for attending the YW Leadership Meeting this year. We were so blessed to hear from Sister Cook who did just a fabulous job and really taught with the spirit. We are so grateful for all you do in your units and are blessed to know and work with you.

Here are two of the recipes that were served

Apple Brittle:
1 package of cream cheese (warm slightly and the texture will be creamy)
Beat together with 1/4 cup white sugar + 1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
10 oz of health bar
serve with sliced apples

Broccoli cheddar soup:
4 quarts water

12 chicken bouillon cubes
7 heads of broccoli chopped~boil for several minutes
(you can add grated carrots with sauteed onions)
reduce heat
in a separate sauce pan melt 3 cubes of butter and mix 1 1/2 cups flour in the melted butter~mix it well first before adding it to the soup or it will be really clumpy!
add cheese whiz-15 oz and mix well
let simmer
serve with bread bowls or alone and top with cheddar cheese
Yummy!

YW in Excellence

RS retreat

I had the BEST time at the RS retreat at Seneca Lake...this was such a fun weekend with lots of games, karaoke, service projects, workshops and really, really good food.


YES! that is our very own Lauren and President Jensen singing songs....it was a great weekend and I look forward to the next one!

Ah! the fun times you all get to look forward to in ....Relief Society!

Stake Family Event

Dancing through the Decades....

the family stake event started at 4:00pm and ran until 10:00pm....it started with 40's music and each hour changed to another decade. There was lots of dancing, really great refreshments and families had a wonderful time at the stake center dancing the day away!

These YW did it all!!! What a great idea for a laurel project. It involved so many people and families throughout the stake and everyone enjoyed themselves. They made posters, gave out assignments for cleanup and setup, they involved the YM. With this activity under their belts they are now ready to graduate and move onto to bigger events!!!

Thank you so much Aimee and Kassey~you are both great leaders! Great job.

more food and more dancing....Brother Sykes did the music and there was even a slide show of pictures and events from each era...the decorations covered the entire gym and tables were setup in the back for people to sit down, visit as well as eat.

YW High Adventure

We had a great time this year on our YW High Adventure Trip!!!! Three days in the Adirondacks Hiking, camping, fishing and haning out. Here is the group.

and then the hikes!! the first day we were all suppose to head to the top of Wright's Peak but one group had to head to another so we were split. But they were equally as difficult. We ALL made it to the top with our Banners of Virtue!

at the top we were able to read about Sister Dalton's challenge to sacrifice and make it to the temple, carrying out own banners of virtue. Some of the YW were able to share testimony and experiences as well as leaders. We were strengthened and uplifted by a very challenging physical experience!

the second day was Mount Joe for some, hanging out at camp for others and another long hike through the pass....it was a challenge but everyone had a great time.

We took a long hike to the top of Wright's Peak with our Banners of Virtue.

Sam fly fishing on the lake! Her first time and she did so well...

Here we are at the Olympic Stadium~we got to try a lot of events and got to see even more!

Very cool.

Seneca Lake with Ohio

We had the best time at the Seneca Lake Girls Camp with the Cinninatti, Ohio North Stake youth conference.
the girls camp has several cabins and a huge dining hall for meals and such occassions as this~a huge dance with other youth.

Hill Cumorah Pageant

what a great year at pageant! the show was wonderful and uplifting.

it was great to see so many of our YW not only performing in pageant but volunteering to help it all come together. i hope everyone had a chance to enjoy the story of the BOM told at the Hill Cumorah.

one night the performance was canceled because of lighting storms!
